Haili Heaton, BA(Hons) English Literature with English Language

‘All modules are well structured are carefully delivered on the course, and during the three years of studying I have obtained academic knowledge in English language and literature. I have also acquired a much deeper understanding of contemporary society and people, which has been particularly beneficial fro me as an overseas mature student. The support one gets from staff and tutors, both academic and personal, makes learning easier and enjoyable. I can recommend anyone to study this course.’

Our School is home to over 1,200 students from all over the world, offering a friendly and cosmopolitan environment in which to study the social sciences and humanities.

We have a strong commitment to our undergraduate and postgraduate students, which was reflected in the 2008 National Students Survey. We achieved an ‘Overall Satisfaction’ rate of 90% – one of the highest in the UK.

As well as our track record for teaching excellence, we are proud of the additional opportunities we can offer our students, including work placements and overseas exchanges. And it all adds up to helping our graduates get ahead in the jobs market.

We have excellent links with industry, which means students have the chance to work with practitioners from the ‘real world’. One of the most coveted work placement opportunities we offer is with MPs in the Houses of Parliament, in London. In fact, two of our graduates have been elected to Parliament and are currently serving as MPs themselves.

Our ties with institutions across the world mean that our students can take part in international exchange programmes with countries including Sweden, Finland, Cyprus, Canada, Australia and the USA.

Of course, you will also be taught by staff who are considered experts in their field. They use innovative teaching techniques and many are involved in cutting-edge research, often working across disciplines, meaning they are better equipped to give you the best start possible in your academic and future career.

Feel free to drop us a line, give us a call – or even come in for a look around – if you think this might be the School for you. We’re happy to talk about the opportunities available, so just get in touch.
